Masks will once again be required in indoor public settings starting Monday.
Illinois Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike says the state’s mask mandate is back, thanks to the rapid spread of the Delta Variant and not enough people getting the vaccine.
“Wearing a mask continues to be one of the simplest, cheapest ways to reduce the spread of Covid-19. There is robust scientific evidence that widespread use of masks, even the non-medical masks, does reduce the spread of Covid-19.”
Masks are required indoors for everyone, regardless if you’ve been vaccinated.
