A 19-year-old Clay City man was one of two killed in a two-vehicle head-on crash on Illinois Route 1 in Lawrence County.
State Police say a preliminary investigation indicates the Clay City man for unknown reasons crossed the centerline and struck an oncoming truck driven by a 57-year-old man from Pflugerville, Texas. After impact, the truck driven by the Texas man caught fire. Both drivers were pronounced dead on the scene. Names have not been released pending notification of family.
The crash occurred at 5:55 Saturday morning. Route 1 was closed for six and a half hours during the investigation.
