The Salem Fire Protection District will remember 9/11 20 years later with a 5K Run/Walk, Memorial Service and other activities in Bryan Memorial Park on Saturday, September 11th.
The Salem Fire Department is encouraging everyone to participate. The 5K Run/Walk will begin at 8:45 am, the time the first plane struck the first tower.
The Memorial Service will begin at ten and will feature guest speakers and the Marion County Fire Service Honor Guard. The Pana Fire Department will have their World Trade Center display on hand, which includes a piece of the World Trade Center.
After the Memorial Service, there will be activities for the young and old alike such as a Child’s Firefighter Obstacle Challenge, Hose Line Obstacle Course, and other firefighting related activities. Bring your friends or take your chances against some of the firefighters.
Popcorn and bottled water will be provided. Activities will be centered in the area of Shelters 2 and 5. To register or for more information go to SFPD Run to Remember 9/11 on Facebook.
