Lady Cats Open Softball Post Season Today….Odin Beats St Elmo To Setup Showdown At SC Today

The Salem Lady Cats open up post season softball play today as the 4 seed and will host Red Bud at 4:30

Also today, Marquette hosts Vandalia, Central welcomes Staunton, Benton at Carmi, Waltonville goes to Carterville, Flora at Columbia, Freeburg welcomes Carlyle, Harrisburg hosts Eldorado, Hamilton County hosts West Frankfort, DuQuoin at Murphysboro, Paris welcomes Pana, Gillespie at Piasa, Robinson hosts Shelbyville.

In 2a regional openers, Carlinville 10-0 over Hillsboro, Pana shutout Sullivan 6-0, Carlyle upset Wesclin 3-1 and Vandalia 5-3 over Roxana.

The Odin Lady Eagles for the first time in eight years advance to the regional softball semifinal after a 17-2 win over St Elmo.  Trista Moore and Lauren Robb homered.  Odin will travel to #2 seed South Central this afternoon for a 2:30 start.

Also in 1a softball yesterday, Okawville over Bunker Hill 17-0, Mulberry Grove blew out Ramsey 12-2, Valmeyer 15-0 over Dupo and Gibault 7-3 winners over Metro East Lutheran.

In 3a it was Highland over Civic Memorial 5-0, Mattoon eliminated Effingham 7-1, Mt Vernon’s Lauren Little struck out 6 with no walks in the Lady Rams 11-1 win over Centralia.  Taylorville routed Lanphier 22-3, Jerseyville beat Triad on the road 5-2 and Waterloo 4-1 over Olney.

Today its Mattoon at Charleston, Taylorville at Glenwood, Mt Vernon hosts Waterloo.

In 4a softball regionals yesterday, O’Fallon over Alton 12-2, Collinsville 11-2 over West, Edwardsville 13-0 over Granite City.  Today Belleville East hosts Collinsville.
