A Marion County Jury deliberated 45 minutes on Monday before finding a 45-year-old Sandoval man guilty on all four misdemeanor charges brought against him for allegedly trying to hit another man with his car.
Jason Boothman was on trial for attempted aggravated battery, aggravated assault, reckless driving and disorderly conduct. He was arrested by Sandoval Police Officer Travis Nix on June 25th, 2025 after a witness reported two men fighting down the road from the Sandoval Police Department.
Nix responded to the scene and saw tire marks and ruts through a lot owned by the Village of Sandoval as well as a truck parked in the grass lot. After speaking with multiple witnesses and viewing video evidence, Nix learned Boothman, the driver of the truck, was angry with the victim, and attempted to strike the victim with the truck.
The case was prosecuted by Marion County Assistant State’s Attorney John Christeson. He presented testimony from several witnesses, including Nix and several Sandoval residents.
Sentencing is set for November 19th at 11:30 am.
