The Salem 12u tournament opened up last night at the Little League Complex. Salem dropped their opener 10-6 in a tight ball game Salem led 4-3 until late in the game. Aaden Rostance threw really well in the loss. He went 4.1 with 4 strikeouts and only 3 earned runs allowed. At the plate, Evan Barnes, Jaret Gibson and Rostance drove in runs. Landon Maxey was 2-2 with 3 runs scored, Payton Gullion added 2 hits and Zane Dodson scored a run.
Salem came out firing in the second game scoring 7 runs before their first out of the game on their way to a 9-6 win over the Washington County Wizards. Jaret Gibson was the winning pitcher going 3 innings allowing 2 strikeouts and 3 earned runs. Payton Gullion came in and closed the door in the final two innings getting some great defense behind him. At the plate, Dodson doubled home 2 runs, Barnes added 2 RBI, Caleb Purintun drove in a run. Keytin Grawe was 2-3 with a double and 2 runs, Max Vincent was 2-2 with 2 runs and a couple great plays at first base. Payton Gullion added a run.
The tournament continues today with Pool B games at 8, 9:30 and 11 and bracket play to take place this afternoon.
