It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jessica (Morton) Reynolds. Born on September 30, 1982, in Centralia, Illinois, Jessica departed this life on September 16, 2026, just shy of her 44th birthday. She is the daughter of James Virgil Johnston and Mary Louise Morton.

Jessica was a devoted in-home healthcare provider for most of her adult life, a role that came naturally to her given her nurturing spirit and unparalleled dedication to caring for others. Her genuine kindness extended not only to the people she cared for but also to her passions and hobbies. Jessica cherished her time with her four-legged companions, finding peace at the lake during sunsets, and expressing joy through her love for the color purple.

One of her greatest delights in life was spending time with her grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as “Sham Ma.” She had an enchanting way of creating beauty around her, whether it was through meticulously decorated nails and toes, or the small yet meaningful details she added to her yard, inviting joy and warmth into the lives of those who visited.

Jessica is survived by 5 sisters, Jamie Fowler and husband Michael of Mt. Vernon; Gina Ortiz and husband Coco of Florida, Suzanna Williams and husband Marcus , Chystina Johnston of Florida, Kelly Schuchman of Centralia; brother Ryan of Salem; nieces and nephews, Tyson and wife Mary of Mt. Vernon and Emily and daughter Aurura Nadine of Mt. Vernon, Darryl and wife Tabatha of Chicago, a sister in law, Trinica of Chicago and her extended family of several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

Jessica was preceded in death by her father, James Virgil Johnston, and her mother, Mary Louise Morton, both of whom she will now join in eternal peace.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date to honor and remember Jessica’s vibrant life.
