The Illinois Department of Economic Opportunity (DCEO) has announced that BCMW Community Services will be administering the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) which will start October 1st, 2026, and will run through August 12, 2027, or until funding is exhausted.
October is a priority-based month for seniors (60+), disabled, households with kids 5 and under and households that are disconnected or up for disconnection, including propane with 25% or less in the tank.
November 2nd, all other households can call for an appointment.
The following documentation will need to be provided to complete the application:
- Income for the last 30 days for all household members 18 and over
- Social Security Income for all age household members
- TANF payments
- Social Security cards for all new applicants
- Most recent gas and/or electric bills
You may be asked for other documents based on the situation.
