A ribbon cutting by the Centralia, Salem and Mt. Vernon Chambers of Commerce was held over the weekend to welcome The Lobby 1924 at 200 East Broadway in downtown Centralia.
Jessiycka Nix-Coleman and her husband Andrew first bought the vacant building in 2023. After plans were finalized, renovation work began.
“We showed off all of the glorious changes we completed,” Coleman said. “With the thirty-foot tall ceilings, you can now really see, as well as the grand staircase and the founder’s staircase that we really opened up by removing a lot of different walls, flooring and cabinetry. Now we have a space that can be booked for everyone’s parties and events through the end of 2026. We’ll be releasing the opening where you can start booking in October. We have our main space ready, our upstairs gallery. We do have our prep room ready. We also have our bar area ready for those to congregate and enjoy. We just don’t have the full bar ready, we won’t release that until 2027.”
Other work still to be completed is the bridal suite. The renovation also included the outside of the building along East Broadway.
Coleman envisions the event center to be utilized for micro weddings, baby showers, birthday parties, and business meetings.
“We will be having open houses scheduled for every month the rest of this year,” Coleman said. “For everyone who was not able to attend our very large open house chamber ribbon cutting yesterday, we will have those open houses for you to come through and check out the space. We will also be accepting calls and meetings for private tours.”
Coleman says at first the renovation envisioned a social market for vendors but was later switched to an event center. She’s proud to join others who have rehabbed or are in the process of rehabbing downtown Centralia buildings.
