The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that I-64 will be one lane in each direction beginning Monday for road and bridge improvements. The closure will be between mile markers 45 and 55.
The work is anticipated to be completed in late fall 2028.
Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes during the closure. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage, and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
