Odin Fire Chief Greg Smith says a 32-year-old missing Odin woman was found about 15 minutes after a manhunt was launched Thursday night.
The woman, who had medical conditions, had left walking from the Odin Cemetery where she had gone with her mother. When she hadn’t returned home an hour later, her mom called the Marion County Sheriff’s Department for help.
The Odin Fire District was called out and a thermal drone was requested from the Iuka Fire Protection District. While information was being collected from the family and a perimeter set up, a resident reported a person calling for help. The sheriff’s department responded to the address along with the Odin Fire Department personnel and United Medical Response. The person screaming turned out to be the missing person.
The woman, whose name has not been released, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries from scratches as a result of walking through the woods. She was found about a mile and a half from the cemetery.
Odin Fire Chief Greg Smith says the incident had a great outcome, and they are grateful for everyone’s assistance, noting it was a great team effort.
The missing person report was received at ten Thursday night.
