It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Huggins, of Centralia (formerly Hoffman), Illinois, on July 27, 2026 at the age of 82.
Barbara touched many lives as a caregiver, spending the better part of her life caring for residents at Murray Center, Terra Estates and Joshua Manor. Not only did she bring love and joy to many residents throughout the years, but also to the many coworkers who became friends/family. She cared deeply about protecting those with disabilities, standing up against those who would belittle, make fun of, or bully them.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Mae and John Burke, sister Brenda Clarkson, as well as her beloved, Dusty Rhodes. She leaves behind: two loving daughters; Colleen Chambliss (Terry) and Carolyn Peters (George), granddaughters Heather Bocock, Resa Altadonna, Sharon Haynes, Tracy Cummings, and Rachel Garrett, close cousin and friend, Kay Crooks, in addition to siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Her humor was quick, her kindness unconditional, her love unmatched.
