Paula Ann Berry, 76, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 9:16 am July 22, 2026 at Axiom Gardens in Mount Vernon. She was born February 25, 1950 in Gloversville, New York to the late Mervin and Annabel (Montana) Chadbourne. Paula married Willard Glenn Berry on October 14, 1972. He preceded her in death on January 12, 2026.
Paula is survived by her sons, Jason G. Berry and wife, Julie, Jared M. Berry and wife, Lindsey, and Justin S. Berry and fiancée, Corena Keith; grandchildren, Madilyn Ellis and husband, Cody, Lauren Berry, Stella Berry, Sylvie Berry, Greyson Edwards, and Paisley Edwards; brother, Scott Chadbourne and wife, Donna; sister, Debbie Chadbourne; stepmother, Helen Chadbourne; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Paula was preceded in death by her brother, Mark Chadbourne.
Paula showed her love by entertaining and cooking for her family. She enjoyed crafting and decorating. Paula worked many years in the medical field as a medical technologist and later taught and directed the medical lab program at the Southern Illinois Collegiate Common Market (SICCM). She truly enjoyed helping her students find jobs. Paula was of the Methodist faith. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Visitation will be held Monday, July 27, 2026 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Mr. Jon Henninger officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Memorials may be made in Paula’s honor to the American Red Cross or Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
