David Mark Davis, 74, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, went to be with his Lord Jesus on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at his home.

He was born November 11, 1951, in East St. Louis, Illinois, the son of Russell Wayne and Jean Marilyn (Dake) Davis.

He began working at the First State Bank of Dix in January 1977 and remained there until his retirement in 2014.  David loved playing golf and officiating sports with his friends.  David and Patty are members of Second Baptist Church and love their church family so very much.

On July 30, 1983, he married Patricia Louise Irvine.  They were married for 42 years, and have two wonderful children, Michael Davis and wife Hannah of Pasadena, California, and Kiley Jean Salmons and husband Dustin of Kansas City, Missouri; beloved grandchildren, Davis Edward Salmons and Louise Jean Salmons of Kansas City, Missouri, and Rowan Shea Davis and Jude Patrick Davis of Pasadena, California; his brother, Jim Davis and wife Wendy of Brasstown, North Carolina, and children, Jeremy Davis and wife Stephanie, Rachel Crum and husband Michael, Jon Davis and wife Tian, and Andrew Davis and wife Trish; his sister, Lynne Mills and husband Robert of Topeka, Kansas, and children, Emily Mills, Brittney Vogel and husband Jon, and Jordan Mills and wife Baoting.  He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services for David will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon), Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Second Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, with Robert Mills and Brian Lee officiating.  Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service, Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the church.  Memorial gifts may be made to Second Baptist Church or SSM Hospice of Good Samaritan, and will be accepted at the service, or by mail to the Osborn Funeral Home, P.O.
