A 33-year-old Texas man has been ordered held without bond after being charged in Marion County Court Tuesday with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a weapon by a felon, aggravated assault and possession of adult use cannabis in a motor vehicle.
Duan Brown was arrested by Centralia Police on Monday after they were called about a man threatening another person with a gun in the 400 block of Melrose. Police were told a verbal argument began and Brown went to his vehicle to retrieve a gun, which he tucked into his waistband. The argument then continued before Brown and another man left in a car.
Police say the vehicle was later located near Lincoln and Martin Luther King Boulevard. An initial search of the vehicle allegedly turned up cannabis and blunts. Police report a gun was later found hidden in the vehicle.
Brown had the public defender appointed to represent him. He is due back in court July 30th for a first appearance with attorney and preliminary hearing.
