A 73-year-old man who has helped organize annual 4th of July fireworks shows in Vincennes, Indiana and Lawrenceville, Illinois has died following a ‘fireworks-related incident’ in Lawrenceville Friday night.

The Knox County Coroner’s office reports an autopsy showed Robert ‘Bob’ Johnson died as a result of a traumatic brain injury while setting off commercial fireworks.

The City of Lawrenceville sent out heartfelt prayers and condolences to Johnson’s family.  They noted he was instrumental in providing exceptional entertainment during Independence Day Fireworks Celebrations and he will be missed.

In Vincennes, Indiana, Johnson’s death led to the cancellation of their Fourth of July fireworks show that he had coordinated for many years.
