George Proksha Sr., 79, of Centralia, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, on December 24, 1946, George lived a full and vibrant life, touching the hearts of many who knew him. He is the son of Emil Edward Proksha and Andre (Mauboussin) Proksha.
George is survived by his loving wife, Annette Bevel, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He leaves behind his sons, George Proksha Jr., along with his significant other, Christina Weber, and Michael Ramey, all of whom reside in Centralia. He is also survived by his daughter, Staci Cullen of Kansas City, MO; his step-sons, Steven Bevel of Centralia and Christopher Bevel, along with his wife Kristin, also of Centralia. His brother, Raymond Proksha, and wife Sharon of Belleville, IL, mourn his passing, alongside his beloved grandchildren Abby Cullen, Trevor Cullen, Ryan Wood, Braelyn Proksha, Grayson Bevel, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Emil E. Proksha and Andre Proksha, and his son, Matthew Proksha.
A pillar of the Centralia community, George was well known for owning and operating Superior Windows Co. for over 35 years, following a 12-year tenure at Rockwell. His commitment to hard work and his approachable nature made him not just a respected businessman but a treasured friend to many. An Army veteran, George proudly served his country and carried those values throughout his life.
George had a passion for Corvettes, hot rods, and sports, often sharing these interests with friends and family. A true people person, he enjoyed engaging in spirited conversations with anyone he met. An animal lover at heart, George found joy in the company of his four-legged companion, Midnight.
A visitation service will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. This will be immediately followed by the funeral service at 12 p.m., officiated by Pastor Steve Upchurch. Arrangements are provided by Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home Inc.
