Tickets for grandstand events at the Marion County Fair are now on sale.  The fair this year runs from Saturday, August 1st, to Saturday, August 8th.

Fair Board President Doug Telford says tickets can be purchased three ways.  You can come by the fair ticket office which will be open nine to four Monday through Friday leading up to fair week and then during the fair.  They are also available by calling the fair office at 618-548-1251.   Tickets can also be purchased online at marioncountyagfair.com.   There is a convenance fee for utilizing credit or debit cards.  An ATM machine is also available at the fairgrounds.

Fair week begins with Motocross on Saturday, August 1st.  The Marion County Talent Show and a free gospel concert by 618 will be held on Sunday evening, August 2nd.   Monday the grandstand entertainment is the Marion County Queen and Little Miss Pageant.   Tuesday is the Junior Miss Marion County Fair Queen and Little Miss Pageant.

Telford says a new rodeo will be featured on Wednesday night, August 5th.

“We’ll have the 3C Arena Top Gun rodeo series,” Telford said. “We went with 3C Arena Rodeo company this year, another local company. We’re excited about them being there and putting on a good rodeo for us.”

On Thursday, the Southern Illinois Pullers League Tractor Pull is scheduled.

“Three organizations, the Southern Illinois Pulling League, Illinois Hot Farm Stock Association, and Illinois Stock Pullers Association, these three pulling outfits are all relatively local. They’re from the Mt. Vernon area, south of Clay City area, Carlyle area. They’re local, and they put on a really good show.”

Friday, August 7th, is the demolition derby, beginning with the Power Wheels Derby for the kids.  Fireworks will be shot off at the conclusion of the derby.  The fair concludes on Saturday, August 8th, with the ITPA Tractor Pull.

The carnival will be in operation Saturday, August 1st through Saturday, August 8th.   Armbands will be $25 to ride as many rides as you wish in one night.
