Bradley J. “Brad” Charlton, age 58, of Altamont, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 28, 2026.
Brad was born on October 13, 1967, in Salem, Illinois, to Larry E. Charlton and Lena Joan (Perry) Kline.
Brad proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant after a distinguished military career. His dedication, leadership, and service reflected his deep commitment to his country and those with whom he served.
A man of strong faith, Brad was an active member of Kinmundy Christian Church, where he faithfully played bass guitar on the praise team. He found great joy in worshiping through music and sharing his talents with his church family.
Brad had a deep appreciation for God’s creation and loved spending time outdoors. Whether he was biking, hiking, paddle boarding, camping, or simply enjoying nature, he found peace and happiness in the beauty of the world around him.
He is survived by his mother, Joan Kline of Kinmundy; his sons, Christopher Charlton and Nicholas Charlton, both of Texas; and his brother, Eddie Charlton and wife, Sheila of Alma.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry E. Charlton; his stepfather, Ronald Kline; and his brother, Jeffrey Charlton.
A Memorial Service for Bradley J. “Brad” Charlton will be held at Kinmundy Christian Church on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, with Josh Conley officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the noon service at the church. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery with Military Rites at the cemetery by the Salem American Legion. Memorial donations may be made to the Kinmundy Christian Church and will be accepted at the service or through Crouse Funeral Home who is assisting the family with arrangements.
