The Centralia Police Department has increased patrols and is asking for people seeing suspicious activity to report it as a result of a number of recent burglaries.

Lieutenant Steve Whritenour says the investigations division is also trying to gather video surveillance to help determine who may be responsible and if the same people can be tied to all of the burglaries. He notes in several cases, the goal of the burglars was to steal copper.

Four break-ins have been reported to police since Tuesday. A building in the 100 block of South Locust was entered by using a ladder located at the business to break out and enter a second floor window. An air conditioning unit was stolen from a rental property in the 100 block of Washington Boulevard. A building in the 700 block of Washington Boulevard was entered with copper stolen from inside. In the fourth case, entry was gained to a building in the 100 block of East Broadway through a boarded up window.

There has also been one car burglary in Centralia. The vehicle was parked in the 700 block of East Rexford. It was discovered on the morning of June 9th.
