It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sherrie Cunningham-White, 68, of Centralia. She departed this world on Sunday, June 7, 2026. Sherrie was born on August 22, 1957, in Centralia to Clara (Logan) Cunningham and Eugene.
A devoted resident of Centralia, Sherrie was cherished by all who knew her. In her professional life, she worked diligently at Casino’s in Louisiana where she lived for over 20 years. After retiring, she moved back to Centralia and worked at the Westside Laundry, making lasting friendships along the way.
Sherrie’s passion for life was evident in her love for rummage sales, her enjoyment at the poker machines, her unwavering support for the Dallas Cowboys and the immense joy she found in babysitting her great-grandchildren. Above all, Sherrie cherished her family, and her love for them knew no bounds.
She is survived by her husband, Lee Arthur White, Jr. of Shreveport, Louisiana; her sons, Darius Cunningham and Dominique Cunningham and wife Alicia; her beloved daughter, A. Channell Stokes, and husband Michael; brothers, Myron Cunningham, Sr. and wife Stephanie of Centralia, Berk Cunningham of Centralia, and Todd Tucker of Mt. Vernon; sisters, Sharon Johnson of Chicago and Bertha Locke of Carbondale. Her memory will also be treasured by her grandchildren: Denzel McChristian, Michael Stokes, Dylan Cunningham, Darius Cunningham Jr., Christian Cunningham, Cameron Cunningham, Angelina Jacinto, Antonio Jacinto, and her numerous nieces and nephews.
Sherrie was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Clara L.Cunningham; Brother Donald Cunningham; sisters, Charlene Pledge, Marsha Cunningham Kenner and Jana Cunningham Hunt; a brother-in-law, Roy Locke; great niece Monye Cross, nephew Yauseffe Hunt and great great nephew Kayden Cross.
Family, friends, and all who were touched by Sherrie’s kindness are invited to celebrate her life at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home, Centralia, Illinois on Monday, June 15th, 2026, at 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family.
