Charles Wayne Wilson, 85, of Mount Vernon, IL, passed away at 9:13 pm June 8, 2026 at SSM Good Samaritan in Mt. Vernon, IL . He was born June 19, 1940 in Mount Vernon, IL to Elisha Wilson and Viola (Gnevo) Wilson. Charles married Zada Marie Wilson on May 09, 1960.
Charles is survived by his Wife, Zada Marie Wilson; Children, Darla (Charles) Tate, Brent (Lisa) Wilson; Grandchildren, Lauren (Nathan) Lenstra, Alex (Jesse) Northup, Justin (Lindsay) Tate, Cody Wilson; Great grandchildren, Kennadie Tate, Jude Northup, Violet Northup, Hannah Lenstra; Siblings, Elisha (Dianne) Wilson Jr., Danny (Linda) Wilson, Rosaliee Faulkner, Nancy (Jeff) Hackett, Kathy (Jimmy) Bonne; Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his Father, Elisha Wilson; Mother, Viola Wilson; Siblings, Delores J. Fairchild, Ronald Wilson, Mary Jane Dee, Bill Wilson and Frank Wilson.
Charles worked as a welder for many years and retired from Mt. Vernon Electric. He also served his country with the United States Navy. He loved to spend time with his family and riding his Harley. He was a member of Mount Vernon Church of God.
A Visitation will be held Friday, June 12, 2026 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, IL. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 12, 2026 at 12:00 with Pastor Charles Tate officiating. Interment will follow at Lowery Hill Cemetery in Belle Rive, IL with Military rights with the American Legion Post #141. Memorials may be made in Charles’s honor to Harlan Rd Church of God or Lowery Hill Cemetery.
