One of the most successful coaching careers in Illinois girls basketball history has come to a close as Teutopolis head coach Laurie Thompson has stepped down after 20 seasons leading the Lady Shoes. Thompson finished her head coaching career with 518 wins and was directly involved in an incredible 1,011 victories as a player, assistant coach, and head coach at Teutopolis. A Lady Shoes standout from 1985 to 1988, Thompson helped build and sustain one of the state’s premier programs, guiding Teutopolis to conference titles, regional and sectional championships, and state tournament appearances. While she is stepping away from coaching, Thompson will remain in the classroom at Teutopolis High School during the upcoming school year.
