The Salem Wildcats were locked in a 1-1 tie with top-seed TTown on Wednesday in the bottom of the sixth inning of their 2a regional semifinal at Vandalia. The Shoes would get a 3-run double from Bryce Niebrugge to lift them to a 4-1 win over the Wildcats. Salem got on the board first in the 2nd inning with a solo home run to left field from senior Carter Lowe. Austin Borries tied the game in the 4th with a long home run of his own. Owen Tennyson and Zane Applegate had the other 2 Salem singles. Gavin Addis earned the win allowing 3 hits and 1 run with 11 strikeouts. Luke Boldt was great in the loss giving his team a chance to pull off the upset. The Shoes advance to Saturday’s finals where they will get a rematch with St Anthony after their easy 10-0 win over the host Vandals.
