The Wabash Valley College Warriors are 1-1 at the NJCAA Baseball World Series in Grand Junction.
Wabash Valley opened tournament play Saturday with an 11-6 victory over Midland College, using a powerful offensive performance to secure the win.
Enrico Veach, Brady Schallmoser, and Leandro Hernandez each homered and tripled to lead the Warriors at the plate. Bryce Adams, Andrew Dixon, and Konner Brown also contributed doubles in the high-scoring effort.
The offensive support was more than enough for starting pitcher Hayden Alexander, who improved to 11-3 on the season with the victory. Trevor Fishman, Simon Skroch, and Preston Barr all provided relief appearances for WVC.
The win advanced the Warriors into Monday’s winner’s bracket matchup against Blinn College, where they suffered a 10-2 setback. Cameron Dube provided one of the bright spots offensively with a home run, while Adams added another double. Dylan Thompson took the loss and moved to 8-3 on the season, with Larsen Burch pitching in relief.
Wabash Valley now faces an elimination game Tuesday at noon against LSU Eunice as the Warriors look to keep their season alive.
