Mt Vernon Lady Rams Varsity lost to Waterloo Varsity Bulldogs 6-2 on Friday in the Waterloo 3a Regional Championship.
Waterloo Varsity Bulldogs got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Sam Juelfs flew out, Mt Vernon Lady Rams Varsity committed an error, and Addy Juelfs singled to right field, each scoring one run.
Bella Riesing homered to left field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fifth for the Waterloo Varsity Bulldogs.
Aidan Dintelman earned the win for Waterloo Varsity Bulldogs. The righty surrendered six hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking none. Taylor DeSmith took the loss for Mt Vernon Lady Rams Varsity. The pitcher went three innings, surrendering four runs (two earned) on six hits, striking out three and walking none.
Allie Sweeten drove the middle of the lineup, leading Mt Vernon Lady Rams Varsity with two runs batted in. The third baseman went 1-for-3 on the day. DeSmith and Danicah Tobin each collected two hits for Mt Vernon Lady Rams Varsity.
Ava Brown and Juelfs were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Waterloo Varsity Bulldogs. Riesing provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Waterloo Varsity Bulldogs with two runs batted in. The catcher went 1-for-3 on the day. Waterloo Varsity Bulldogs didn’t commit a single error in the field. Riesing had the most chances in the field with seven.
The Lady Rams season ends at 18-9.
