Archie Goewey didn’t allow a single run as defeated Althoff Catholic 2-0 on Wednesday. Goewey allowed just five hits.

 

The pitching was strong on both sides. Centralia Varsity Orphans pitchers struck out six, while Althoff Catholic sat down five.

 

Centralia Varsity Orphans got on the board in the top of the sixth inning after Michael Organ singled down the right field line, and Goewey grounded into a fielder’s choice, each scoring one run.

 

Colton Stearns took the loss for Althoff Catholic. The starting pitcher went five and one-third innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out three and walking two.

 

Organ went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Centralia Varsity Orphans in hits. Centralia Varsity Orphans were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Gabe Houser made the most plays with eight.

 

Aden Quinn went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Althoff Catholic in hits. Althoff Catholic were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Tyler Birdsong had the most chances in the field with six.

 

Centralia Varsity Orphans play at home on Thursday against Highland in their next game.
