 Wildcats Fall on Senior Day

The Salem Wildcats honored their seniors yesterday before their game with Altamont.  The Cats then fell to the Indians 5-0 to fall to 7-21 on the year.  The Cats outhit Altamont 6-3, but couldn’t come up with the big one when it mattered.  Carter Lowe went 2-3 as Salem also got singles from Keytin Grawe, Logan Butts, Angel Salgado and Aaden Rostance.  Brody Collier took the loss going 6 innings allowing 3 earned runs on just 2 hits.  Rostance worked the final inning.  The Salem Wildcats are in action today at Flora.  This will be a preview of their opening round 2a regional matchup that will take place on May 25th also in Flora.

Orphans Beat Mt Vernon For 2nd Time

Centralia knocked off Mt Vernon for the 2nd time this season 6-4.  A dropped third strike by Centralia gave Mt Vernon a 4-3 lead in the top of the 5th.  Centralia answered back retaking the lead with 2 runs in the fifth on a Gabe Houser single and Dax Snow RBI walk.  Rhett Lambert finished with 2 Orphans hits.  Valon Williams, Mike Organ, Lambert, Houser and Will Stanton added Orphan RBI.  Nolan Mast drove in 2 runs for Mt Vernon and Ryker Perigo, Gavin Pedigo and Cale Maurer had 2 hits each.  The Rams are hosting Fairfield today.   Centralia is hosting Okawville.


Cougars Lose Late Lead

The SC Cougars gave up 2 runs in the top of the 7th inning and they fell to visiting Dieterich under the lights at Lions Field 3-2.  Andrew Hall drove in both runs with a 2 out single in the final inning.  The Cougars were winning the game in spite of only having 1 hit all night, which was a leadoff double by Luke Shumate who also drove in the only run.  Colton Tockstein was really good on the mound going 6.2 allowing 4 hits and struck out 8. Aiden Hoover took the loss in relief.


Eagles Slip Past Vandalia

OPS built a 4-run lead in the 3rd inning and then held off Vandalia for a 6-5 victory.  Blaize Murray drove in 2 runs going 2-3.  Austin Hoffman had 3 hits with Brady Cain and Beau Chapman also with multi-hit games.  Brady Hines was the starter with Hoffman appearing in relief.  OPS will play at South Central tomorrow night at 6pm as the Cougars celebrate the 5 year anniversary of their state baseball championship season.
