The Selmaville Rockets had a record breaking day at the Class S state. Combined the boys and girls medaled in 8 events, broke 4 school records, brought home 2 state titles, and broke 1 state record. Kasen Harris won the 7th grade 100m in a state record time of 11.96 and was 2nd in the 200 in a school record time of 24.43. Hayden Young, Jayden Newcomb, Lucas Howe and Harris won the 7th grade 4×200 in a school record time as well.
On the girls side, Gia Ward was 4th in the long jump breaking the school record with a leap of 15’9.25” and was 5th in the hurdles. Alana Howe was 2nd in the 100 and 7th in the 200. Ward, McKenzie Mulvany, Gwen Goostree and Alana Howe were 5th in the 4×100 breaking the school record in 54.58.
Raccoon had a great day as well. John Organ was 4th in the shot put and 2nd in the discus. Scout Amason was 3rd in the mile breaking her own school record again in a time of 5:33.12.
Congratulations to the St Mary’s Centralia 4×400 team of Siegler, Schultze, Lamb and Wethington for finishing 4th at state in a school record time of 4:35.88. Way to leave your mark girls!!
Summersville’s Haydyn Johnson won 4 different state titles. He won the 100, 200, 4×4 and his 4×200 team set a new state record. As a team Summersville won the boys title for the 2nd straight year.
