The Oil Belt Conference track meet was held at Jim Finks Field on Friday. Many conference and school records fell on the day. Selmaville won the boys team title with Central City 2nd and Raccoon 3rd. For the girls, Selmaville completed the sweep winning as well followed by Field in 2nd and Raccoon 3rd.
Gia Ward tied the previous OBC record in the long jump and broke the conference record in the 7th grade 100m. Selmaville’s girls 4×100 relay broke the conference record. It consisted of Ward, Gwen Goostree, Gabby Gaston and Alana Howe. Howe also broke a few meet records in the girls 8th grade 100 which her time of 12.78 was also a new school record. She also broke the conference 200 record in 27.31 breaking the previous mark by almost 2 seconds. That is also a Selmaville school record. Raccoon’s Hattie English broke their school record in the girls 7th grade 100 in 13.82. Central City’s Kinley Blair broke their school record in the 400 that had stood since 2004.
On the boys side, Raccoon’s John Organ broke the OBC record in the discus. Selmaville’s Kasen Harris broke the 7th grade 100 record in 11.88 which is also a school record.
