Honerkamp 1 Strike Away From No Hitter
Morgan Honerkamp was one strike away from a no-hitter, but a line drive up the middle ended that big, but Salem still beat Wood River at Tully Park 4-0. Honerkamp allowed just the one hit and struck out 4. Emma Lipe led the way with 2 hits. Honerkamp, Katee Sellers and Kendall Zimmermann also had hits. Honerkamp had 2 RBI with Lipe and Zimmermann also driving in a run.
Mt Vernon Scores Late To Beat Carbondale
Mt Vernon beat Carbondale 6-2 in conference play. The Lady Rams broke a 2-2 tie in the 7th inning on RBI from Addi McMillen, Danicah Tobin, Arwyn Wilkey and Allie Sweeten. Taylor DeSmith was the winning pitcher allowing 4 hits and 1 earned run with 8 strikeouts and no walks. Wilkey finished with 2 RBI going 3-4 on the day. Tobin added 2 hits.
