The Salem Wildcats fell to 2-13 on the season with a double header loss to state ranked Teutopolis on Saturday. Salem lost the opener 11-0 as the Shoes would score 6 runs in the fourth inning to pull away. Hudson Gambill took the loss and Luke Boldt had lone Salem hit.
Teutopolis scored 5 in the first inning and won Game 2 13-1. Salem again had one hit, Evan Barnes doubled home Salem’s only run. Logan Butts took the loss. Salem is back in action this week beginning Tuesday with a road game at Wood River.
Salem JV Splits with Mattoon
The Salem JV split a double header with Mattoon on Saturday. They lost the opener 8-5. Huck Mulvany drove in 2 and Jax Schubert had 2 hits. Kyler King and Nicholi Marhanka pitched for the Cats.
Salem then won 10-6. Rhett Starnes was the winning pitcher allowing 4 hits and 3 runs. Kaden Cripps collected the save. Drake Rector drove in 2 runs. Mathew Carter, Bentley Bryan, Rector and Kyler King added hits.
Cards Improve to 13-2
North Clay improved to 13-2 with an easy 10-0 win over Marshall. Ian Jones was dominant on the mound striking out 13. Cayden Craig, Carder Walden and Jack Compton ha 2 hits each. Will Ballard, Compton and Cody Zimdars each drove in 2 runs.
