Breese Central scored 11 runs in the opening inning as they beat Salem in Cahokia play 15-0. Keytin Grawe had the lone Salem hit as they fell to 2-11 on the season and 0-2 in the Cahokia. They will host a double header with state-ranked Teutopolis on Saturday.
The Salem JV beat Breese Central 9-3. Landon White was the winning pitcher allowing 3 hits and 1 earned run over 5 innings and struck out 5. Drake Rector and Jax Schubert had 2 hits. Damon Jennings, Nicholi Marhanka and Huck Mulvany drove in 2 runs.
The Mt Vernon Rams will play at Belleville East today after falling to Marion 12-2 yesterday. Ty Pierce homered in the loss, Max Nowak drove in a run and Nolan Mast scored. Eli Prost, Grant Holloway and Jay Webb added hits as Mt Vernon is 6-6 overall and 1-1 in the South 7.
Carlyle improved to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in the Cahokia Conference with their 13-2 win at Okawville. Austin Johnson Threw a complete game one-hitter, and allowed no earned runs while striking out 9. Daegan Foster had 4 hits including 2 doubles and 3 RBI. Ethan Brinkmann also drove in 3 and scored 3 runs. Grayson Strader drove in 2. Carlyle is at South Central today.
Christ Our Rock fell to conference foe Father McGivney 13-2. The game was close after 5 innings with McGivney only leading 4-2, but they would score 10 runs in their final 2 at bats to pull away. Blake Hanke was the starter for the Stallions allowing 2 earned runs and 4 hits over 4 innings. Brayden Albert, Colton Cartright, Carson French and Garret Beal had hits with Drew Lueking and Hanke driving in runs.
