Belleville East defeated Wildcats 14-0 on Wednesday thanks in part to eight runs in the second inning.
The Lancers opened the scoring in the first after Julian Gaddis singled, scoring one run.
Belleville East scored eight runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. Jacob Howie singled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, Gaddis grounded out, scoring one run, Braeden Lashley singled, scoring two runs, Jackson Ehret singled, scoring one run, and Peyton Mumphard singled, scoring one run.
A sacrifice fly by Roger Williams extended the Lancers lead to 10-0 in the bottom of the third inning.
Williams earned the win. The lefty allowed two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out five and walking one. Damon Jennings took the loss for Wildcats. The hurler went two innings, allowing nine runs (three earned) on seven hits, striking out three and walking one.
Huck Mulvany and Kyler King each collected one hit for Wildcats.
Belleville East amassed 11 hits in the game. Williams provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led with three runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Lashley and Gaddis each collected two hits. Gaddis and Leo Burress each stole multiple bases. Belleville East stole seven bases in the game. They turned one double play in the game. The Lancers were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Braylon Adams made the most plays with seven.
