Even though Centralia collected 12 hits to Triad’s eight, they still fell 11-7 on Wednesday. Dax Snow led the Orphans with three hits.
Snow collected three hits in four at bats in the loss. Snow singled in the second inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the seventh inning.
Triad jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after an error scored one run, and Keller hit a sacrifice fly, scoring two runs.
Centralia flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring six runs on six hits to take the lead, 6-3. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in one.
Triad tied the game up in the bottom of the second thanks to two home runs. Triad tied the game at six on a solo home run to center field by Yates.
In the bottom of the third, Triad broke up the tie when Hasquin singled, scoring one run. Then a double by Gaskill followed to extend the lead to 10-6.
Triad scored one run in the bottom of the sixth on a solo home run to left field by Yates.
Hasquin earned the win for Triad. The pitcher surrendered four hits and one run (zero earned) over four innings, striking out two and walking two. Snow took the loss for Centralia. The pitcher went two and two-thirds innings, giving up nine runs (seven earned) on five hits, striking out none and walking three. Keller stepped on the bump first for Triad. The hurler gave up seven hits and six runs (four earned) over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking two.
Centralia tallied 12 hits in the game. The Orphans had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. The Orphans got RBI from Rhett Lambert, Snow, Michael Organ, Gabe Houser and Preston Feig. Organ, Feig and Lambert doubled.
Hasquin, Gaskill, and Yates each collected two hits for Triad. Yates hit two home runs in the game. The outfielder went 2-4 with three runs scored and three runs batted in. Hasquin, Gaskill, and Yates each drove in three runs for Triad. Triad turned one double play in the game.
Centralia welcome Belleville West on Friday for their next game.
