The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department has arrested five people during an investigation into a March 27th burglary of Shroyer’s Tire on East Illinois Highway 15 in Woodlawn.

29-year-old Travis Brock of Mt. Vernon was arrested on March 31st for alleged burglary and felony theft.

As the investigation continued, two search warrants were issued for stolen firearms.

46-year-old Stewart Spillman of Mt. Vernon was arrested for possession of a controlled substance following a traffic stop as a vehicle was seen leaving 819 North Tenth where the first search warrant was executed.  58-year-old Michael Jones and 38-year-old Amanda French were later arrested at the home.  Jones for armed violence, aggravated felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver and French for possession of under five grams of methamphetamine.

The second search warrant was executed at 10735 East Bakerville Road where 42-year-old April Penrose was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The search warrants were executed by the Mt. Vernon Police/Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office High Risk Team and members of the ILEAS Special Response Team.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department reports the investigation is ongoing and more criminal charges could result.
