Salem Varsity Wildcats couldn’t keep up with Effingham and fell 12-2 on Tuesday.

Effingham got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Carter Braddy doubled, scoring two runs, and Max Flack singled, scoring one run.

A single by Wyatt Hayes, a double by Jacob Warner, and a double by Westin Hayes helped Effingham extend their early lead in the third.

Luke Boldt took the loss for Salem Varsity Wildcats. The pitcher went three innings, surrendering seven runs on seven hits, striking out three and walking four. Flack stepped on the bump first for Effingham. The starter allowed two hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking four.

Boldt led Salem Varsity Wildcats with one run batted in. Carter Lowe and Logan Butts each collected one hit for Salem Varsity Wildcats.

Effingham piled up 13 hits in the game. Leadoff hitter Hayes led Effingham with three hits in four at bats. Braddy and Hayes each drove in three runs for Effingham. Brayden Tucker collected two hits for Effingham in three at bats. Effingham stole four bases in the game. Effingham turned one double play in the game.
