Jack Compton drove in 5 runs on 3 hits as North Clay improved to 7-1 with a 24-4 rout over Okaw Valley.  Compton hit a 3-run home run to left field in the 2nd inning, and doubled home 2 more in the fourth inning.

 

NC jumped out to the lead in the top of the first after Jett Stollard induced Trent Ingram to hit into a fielder’s choice, but a run scored.  Carder Walden homered to left field then to score 2 more.

 

The Cardinals would break it open with 5 runs on 4 hits in the second inning.  After Compton homered, Ian Jones doubled home a run, Cayden Craig then would add an RBI groundout.

 

NC plated 7 more runs in the fifth.  Cody Zimdars drew a bases loaded walk, Will Ballard was then hit by a pitch, Brodie Adair doubled home two, Chase Bangert drew an RBI walk along with Chad Hosselton and Cooper Lewis.

 

Talon Hemphill was the winning pitcher for the Cardinals as the starter allowed 3 hits and 4 runs (two earned) over 3.2 innings with 3 strikeouts.  Craig tossed an inning of no run ball for the Cards in relief.

 

NC had 17 hits in the game.  Walden drove in six runs going 3-3.  Jones, Walden and Compton had 3 hits each.  Ingram and Zimdars also had multi-hits for NC as they also drew 11 walks in the game.

 

The Cardinals return to action at Dieterich today.
