Mt Vernon fell to Waltonville 9-0. Elyssa Schoenbaechler was the winning pitcher with 11 strikeouts in the shutout. Lexxi Howard and Allie Sweeten had a hit for Mt Vernon.
Waltonville got on the board in the top of the first inning after Addi Stanley laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring a run, and Shae Taylor singled home two more. Each drove in three runs.
Taylor DeSmith took the loss for the Lady Rams. The hurler went six innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits, striking out 5 and walking 1.
Mt Vernon will travel to Carmi/White County Tuesday afternoon.
Lady Cougars Rout Vandalia
South Central took advantage of 11 Vandalia errors as they beat the Lady Vandals 17-3 in four innings. Perci Reid and Kinlee Thompson homered. Reid drove in 4 and Thompson 3. Baylee Brown added 2 RBI with runs driven in also from Emmie Ruholl and Annie Ruholl. Lauren Johnson was the complete game winner allowing 3 hits and striking out 6 in four innings.
Halle Kitley drove in 5 runs with a 2 run homer and 3 run double as Flora came back to beat Charleston 11-10.
The Annies softball team also hosts Carbondale in conference play.
