Coming off their season opening loss Wednesday to Mt Vernon, the Salem Wildcats will hit the road for the first time when they travel to Murphysboro. This will be a conference game next year when Salem leaves the Cahokia for the River to River.
The Mt Vernon Rams are at home against the Lions of Carterville. The Rams improved to 2-0 yesterday with a 2-1 win over Champaign Central at Edwardsville. Cale Maurer was 2-3 with 2 RBI, Trevor McClure, Maxwell Nowak, Owen Burke and Ty Pierce all added hits. Nowak was the winning pitcher going 4 innings allowing 3 hits and no runs. Pierce earned the 3-inning save.
Christ Our Rock lost at Metro East Lutheran 6-5 on the final play of the game. Colton Cartright was good on the mound for the Stallions. He gave up 3 hits and 1 unearned run over 4 innings with 5 strikeouts and only 1 walk. Drew Lueking and Brayden Albert drove in runs for Christ Our Rock.
