A 57-year-old White County Correction Officer has been arrested on six counts of Custodial Sexual Misconduct and one count of Official Misconduct.
Darren Hays of Carmi was arrested Wednesday by Illinois State Police Special Agents after an arrest warrant was issued following an investigation that began last November.
The White County Sheriff’s Office requested ISP’s assistance with an investigation involving Hayes. The investigation allegedly revealed that Hays allegedly engaged in a sexual relationship with a female inmate while on-duty at the jail.
The case was presented to the Gallatin County State’s Attorney’s office who filed the charges. Days is being held in the Saline County Detention Center where he remains in custody pending his first court appearance.
