Goreville will play tomorrow for the Class 1a state title after knocking off Lawrenceville yesterday in their semifinal at the State Farm Center in Champaign 55-47. The game was tight until the end of the third when Goreville started to take control. Nick King led the way with 20 points to go along with 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Garrett Church hit 3 three’s for 9 points and 8 each from Tommy King and Braden Compton. Lawrenceville was led by Jayden Goff with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Noah Wilson added 11 points and Zander Cessna finished with 9.
Goreville advances to play Chicago Marshall who beat Eastland in their semifinal 66-33. Quientin Gipson Jr. led the way with 20 points for Marshall. Rayvon Myles added 14. Eastland got 11 each from Wyatt Carroll and Braden Anderson.
Lawrenceville then bounced back from the loss to beat Eastland in the 3rd place game 61-43. Cessna had 18 to lead 4 in double figures, Goff and Jace Mickiewicz added 12 and Wilson finished with 11. Parker Krogman led Eastland with 13.
It will be Peoria Manual against Quincy Notre Dame for the 2a state title tomorrow. QND advanced with a dominant 64-45 win over Chicago Farragut. Quincy put 3 in double figures with Jace Allensworth scoring 16, Gavin Doellman 11 and Beau Eftink 10. Farragut was led by Latrell Kelly with 21 points.
Manual got 19 from Jashua Humbles in their 62-57 win over Tolono Unity. Manual also got 13 from Tahj Tolliver and Reginald Postelwaite while Jaquan Brown added 10. Tolono’s Dane Eisenmenger scored 14 and pulled down 11 rebounds. Coleton Langendorf added 13 points.
In the 3rd place game, Tolono dominated Farragut 86-61. Five were in double figures for Unity. Tyler Styan had a monster game with 15 points and 17 rebounds including 9 offensive rebounds. Eisenmenger added 16, Brayden Henry scored 15, Tyler Henry 14 and Tre Hoggard 10. Latrell Kelly had another good game for Farragut scoring 28 points.
