The NJCAA Region 24 Tournament played quarterfinal games at Rend Lake College yesterday.
KC’s season ends with a 98-77 loss to John A Logan. Camron McDaniels led the Volunteers with 30 points. Myles Liddell paced KC with 18 points, Alan Myers added 17, Keyon Garrett-Miler 15 and Jerrod Mckey finished with 10. KC’s season ends with a 16-15 record. John A Logan is the hottest team in Juco basketball winning their 15th game in the last 16 and earning their 20th win of the season. They will advance to the Wednesday semifinals against Shawnee after the 6th seed upset #3 Wabash Valley 78-60.
5th seed Lincoln Trail moved on after taking late control to beat 4th seed SWIC 74-64. Mike White scored 18 of his game high 31 points in the second half while hitting 6 three’s for the Statesmen. They advance to take on top seed Vincennes University after the 10th ranked Trailblazers recovered from a 5 point halftime deficit to beat Lake Land 94-80. All five VU starters were in double figures and they were 25-35 from the free throw line. The win also pushes VU past Hutchinson, Kansas for the most wins all time in NJHCAA. The Blazers have won 1957 games to just 596 losses. Hutchinson’s season ended last Saturday and have an all-time record of 1956-671.
