A 43-year-old Salem man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty in Marion County Court on Thursday to criminal sexual assault.

Alejandro Maines-Sosa of North Broadway admitted to committing a sex act with a girl between the ages of 13 and 18 while in a position of trust or supervision.  Four counts of criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse to the same girl were dropped as part of the plea.  The incidents reportedly occurred between May 2021 and October 2022.

After getting out of prison, Maines-Sosa will be on mandatory supervised release for three years to life.  He will get credit for 30 days already served in jail.

Maines-Sosa was arrested by Salem Police in November 2023 following an investigation that began in May of that year after the girl and her father reported the incidents.  During the investigation, police reported several family members were interviewed along with the girl by the Amy Center staff.
