In a back and forth game at the 1a Trico Sectional, Goreville held off Sparta 66-63. The Blackcats had the three point lead with 6 seconds left and missed two free throws giving Sparta a chance. But their three pointer from the top of the key was off to the right sending Goreville to the Sectional finals. The 31-4 Blackcats will take on the 30-4 Waltonville Spartans Friday night in the Sweet 16.
Casey Westfield slowed the tempo way down against state ranked Lawrenceville, but the Indians pulled out a tough 30-29 victory to advance to the Meridian finals against Altamont.
