Altamont overcame 30 points from Nathanial Marlow in the first half, including 20 in the second quarter as they won 68-58. Webber led 39-34 at the halftime break, but Altamont used a 10-0 run to start the 3rd to grab the lead and hold on from there. Marlow finished with 41 and #2 all-time just 85 points shy of the All Time record. Altamont was led by Kade Millville with 22. The advance to the Macon Meridian Sectional to face Tuscola next week.
Sparta has 30 wins for the first time in program history as they won their own 1a regional at home beating Woodlawn 55-47. It’s the first time since 1991 Sparta has won a regional title ending the 35 year drought. The Bulldogs advance to the Trico Sectional next week where they will play Goreville who also is 30-4 after their Cobden championship win over Cairo 75-51. Woodlawn’s season ends at 29-4.
Also in 1a title games last night, Bunker Hill won on their home floor beating Carlyle 53-26, Casey at home beat Cumberland 50-45. Waltonville won the Elverado title over New Athens 61-28., Hardin County beat NCOE at Junction 53-51, Lawrenceville beat the host Cardinals at Louisville 59-52 and Windsor/Stew-Stras lost the program’s first ever trip to a regional final falling at Tuscola to the hosts 62-34.
