Fire destroyed a Bonnie home Monday night.
Jefferson Fire reported fire was on the back porch and rear corner of the home at 450 West Camp Ground Road when they arrived. The fire eventually spread through the entire house and a bulldozer was eventually used to bring the entire house down.
The two occupants escaped safely but lost all of their possessions.
The cause of fire has not been determined. The home is owned by Pam Michael who was selling it on a contract for deed.
Water was an issue as firemen only had one hydrant to work with in Bonnie and had to haul other water from the south side of Mt. Vernon.
Jefferson Fire received mutual aid from Mt. Vernon firefighters, Benton, Ewing North, Kell, Waltonville and Woodlawn. Salem and McLeansboro covered the Jefferson Fire Station in the event of another fire.
The fire was first reported at 8:20 Monday night with firemen remaining on the scene until 12:20 Tuesday morning.
