A 40-year-old Farina man has died after collapsing while being moved to an ambulance after becoming ill in the Taco Bell drive through on West Main Street in Salem.

Marion County Coroner Claude Howell says the United Medical Response crew was talking to the man through the window after they were called when he became ill.   When removing him from the car out the passenger door he appears to have gone into cardiac arrest.   Efforts to revive him at Taco Bell and in the Salem Township Hospital emergency room were unsuccessful.

Howell pronounced the man dead in the ER at 7:49 Thursday evening. His name has not been released pending notification of relatives.

An autopsy is being conducted Friday at the Sangamon County Morgue in Springfield to try to further determine the cause of death.
