The National Weather Service has raised the risk of severe weather in South Central Illinois from ‘slight’ to ‘enhanced’. There is also a 70 percent chance of rain on Thursday afternoon. The greatest chance of severe weather in South Central Illinois is from noon to three.
The rain will bring much cooler air. After hitting a high of 66, temperatures will drop to 38 degrees on Thursday night. It will also be breezy, with a south wind 10 to 20 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 33 mph. Sunshine returns Friday, but the high temperature is just 48 degrees. It will remain breezy in the morning, then winds subside in the afternoon.
Because of recent dry conditions and dead vegetation, you are encouraged NOT to burn on Thursday.
