The Marion County Board Tuesday night will meet the county’s first Veterans Assistance Commissioner.   Ron Peters will assist veterans in obtaining benefits to which they are entitled.   The county board still has to decide on a payroll and benefit package as well as office internet and telephone service.

The board could take action on Marion County ESDA personnel following a closed session.  More discussion is on the agenda concerning the Marion County Supervisor of Assessments and the tax study of his office.

The board will receive a report on upgrading the former law library area behind the large third story courtroom into three meeting rooms and a storage area.

South Central Illinois Regional Planning Commission Executive Director Luke Eastin will address the board about a hazard mitigation planning grant and hazard mitigation services agreement.

There will also be an update on the Marion County Animal Control Program, Capital Improvement Plan for the Marion County Highway Department facility and equipment.

The board will be asked to approve a liquor license for the new owner of Rambo Lucky Day Slots, LLC.

The full county board meeting begins at 6:30 Tuesday night.   Committee meetings will begin at 4:30 for the Building and Historical Committee, a combined Personnel/Labor Relations and Law Enforcement Committees at 5, Road and Bridge Committee at 5:30, and the County and Community Committee meeting at 6.   All the meetings are in room 302 on the third floor of the courthouse.
